===================================================================================================
Pigeon racing has been in the Cowell family for over 70 years, Mark & Dave Cowell are a father and
son partnership, who race in Kent under the name of M.J Cowell & Son and in the East Midlands
under the name of D Cowell. The M.J Cowell & son racing name originates from Mark’s father and
Dave’s grandad, Melvin James Cowell, who Mark successfully raced in partnership with for many
years, up until Melvin sadly passed away. It’s safe to say that racing runs in their blood with Mark,
Melvin and his wife Linda running local clubs in Thanet for many decades. As 2nd and 3rd generation
Cowell family racers Mark and Dave are hoping that the 4th generation isn’t far away, with a couple
of Mark’s 8 grandchildren expressing an interest in the birds too.
In the last 5-6 years they have won over 60 x 1st prizes at club, fed and national levels.
60 x 1st Club, 17x 1st fed/ joint liberations racing against an average of 150 – 500 birds in their clubs and up to 1500
birds in Feds and joint liberations. For the 5th consecutive year running Dave was the combined
points champion in a very competitive club and has won in 3 different Federations, in 3 different
consecutive years, with 3 different Fed loft positions; shortest flyer, mid flyer and longest flyer on a
dog let. Proving that Dave & Marks birds win in any wind, at any speed, and with any loft location.
Dave & Mark only buy directly and as close to the tree as possible from trusted, reputable sources
such as Herbots, Marcel Sangers, PIPA, H&E J. Eijerkamp, Louella, P&D Racing & Breeding stud,
Excelsior, Premier Stud, Alfie Hawthorn and Buck de Kruijf just to name a few. If you are looking for
birds that win consistently and out of turn, look no further!
Mark & Dave Cowell (Cowell’s Ceusters)
Mark & Dave only race small teams normally around 20 - 30 pigeons, with a motto of “small teams,
big results”. They only gift and sell around 20 birds a year, normally through direct requests, swaps,
gifts to new starters or novices or donations to charity auctions. So, considering the small numbers
they distribute their results are even more impressive!
This auction consists of hand selected 2025 mature young birds and a handful of older specimens
from their stock team as part of the loft closing down reduction. These pigeons are bred from a
mixture of the very best sprint to middle distance families in Europe including Vranken & Berdon
(Olympic Rico & White man lines) Dirk Van Den Bulck (Kittel, Greipel, Goede Roede lines), Patrick
Boeckx (Sagan lines), A & B Leideman (Goede Grizzle lines) and the new super sensation Pierre Beyl
(Blizzard King Kittel lines).

Testimonials:
I had a pair of babies from Dave Cowell in the 2021 season bred from a sister of NALA, the hen was a rank, tame bird which took 2nd Club 2nd Mid-shires Federation doing a velo of 1952ypm. I followed this up by buying 5 more babies from Dave in the 2022 season and they scored 3rd 161B. only beaten by loft mates, 10th & 14th Club 171B. only beaten by loft mates and 5thFed 718B. One individual bird bred from a son of NALA clocked up 3rd, 16th, 18th averaging 150B. Club mainly beaten by loft mates and 5th Federation 718B.
Nicky Hawes
Dave & Mark sent us a kit of 6 youngsters to race in the 2022 season, these youngsters were superb with 3 out of the 6 scoring in the federation. A lovely blue hen bred from a full brother of NALA, was one of our most consistent youngsters scoring 3 times in the top 20 of the federation (6th Fed 540B. & 7th Fed 418B.) and in the section of the MNFC. The pigeons in this auction will be perfectly balanced and shaped as I know how meticulous Dave & Mark are when it comes to their breeding. If you are after quality birds with loaded pedigrees, then look no further!
Ben Oakley
Dave & Mark sent 6 young birds up for us to try against our own, to be fair they were in the main drop many times picking up positions regularly. These are top lines producing top results.
Nigel & Wendy Shaw
I have had pigeons from Mark Cowell a couple of times now, they are of a very high quality and reasonably priced. This 2022 season I won 1st, 2nd & 4th out of 920 birds and 3rd from 731 birds in the Harrow South Road club with birds bred by Mark.
Marinel Adochita
The birds bred for me by Mark & Dave are as close as you can get to perfect sprint pigeons, I only race a small team and their birds that I have had for multiple years now are some of my top performers. This year (2025) 3 out of 4 of my first prizes were through these bloodlines with my single
entry for the RPRA Ace Awards being direct from these top fanciers. For me they have bred 3 x 1st 460b. & and 12 x to 10 positions 540b. in just 2 years of racing them. I cannot credit Mark & Dave enough for the quality of their pigeons and the help Mark has shown me within the sport.
Ethan Nightingale (Dover)
I have bought several stock pairs from Mark & Dave yearly for the past few years, with fantastic results taking many 1st prizes at club and federation level, often with multiple pigeons coming together. They have top quality birds.
Francisco Rosa (Elite Wings)
I have had 3 birds bred by Dave & Mark Cowell and a gifted stock hen, they were well reared and in excellent condition when I received them. One blue hen bred from their Bulck crossed Eijerkamp Olympic Hans lines (half siblings included in this auction in the form of Thors Golden Kittel’s) has
turned into a class pigeon and won 2 x 1st prize, 2 x 2nd prize and 1 x 3rd prize. The gift stock hen from their Kittel lines has also bred me a pigeon that now has 5 x 1st and some good fed positions too.
Eddy Johnson (Towlaw Hs WD.)
Over the past few years, I have invested heavily in new stock buying birds from Dave & Mark’s Olympic Rico, Blizzard King Kittel & Dirk Van Den Bulck lines. These pigeons have transformed my loft and my performances; in 2024 I finished 3rd in the 2024 young bird’s points rankings without sending
to the last two races. This year (2025) I have improved by another 2 points, their Olympic Rico bloodlines have bred me a Fed winner from Wollaston, with another Rico hen being grandmother to club and sections winners. The Dirk Van Den Bulcks are also amongst my best breeders as well.
